How to Change the Color Theme on Your Squarespace Website
Your website’s color theme plays a huge role in how visitors perceive your brand. Whether you're aiming for minimal and modern or bold and creative, changing the color theme in Squarespace is quick and impactful.
Here’s how to do it in just a few steps:
1. Open the Site Styles Panel
To begin, go to any page on your site and click Edit.
Then:
Click the paintbrush icon (🎨) in the top-right corner.
This opens the Site Styles panel, where you can customize fonts, buttons, spacing—and colors.
2. Click on “Colors”
In the Site Styles menu, scroll down and click on Colors.
This is where you manage your site’s color themes and how they apply across different sections.
3. Choose a New Color Theme
You’ll see a few default theme options (like Light, Dark, Accent, etc.). To change the overall look:
Click on the current theme being used (e.g., Light 1, Dark 2).
Select a new pre-designed Color Theme or click Edit to customize the colors manually.
Each theme controls background color, text color, button color, and link color for that section.
4. Customize Individual Colors (Optional)
Want full control?
Click Edit Palette to change:
Backgrounds
Text colors
Accent colors
Button hover colors, and more
You can also assign different color themes to individual page sections as needed.
5. Save and Preview
Once you’re done:
Click Save in the top-left.
Scroll through your site to see how the new theme looks on each section—especially on mobile.
